Arrive in Lima and explore the best of the capital city through its cuisine. Visit a traditional market in Lima, learn how to make a Ceviche, and taste the most traditional dessert of the capital. After Lima, travel to Arequipa to walk along its charming streets and visit its monuments. The day after, you’ll have a scenic drive to the Colca Canyon, one of the best places to spot Andean condors in Peru.

Continue from Colca Canyon to Puno and then sail in the Lake Titicaca to Uros, Taquile, and Luquina communities. There, you’ll enjoy stunning landscapes and learn about the traditions and ancient knowledge these societies hold.

After Lake Titicaca and, on your way to Cusco, you’ll explore a fascinating pre-Incan cemetery, Sillustani, on the shores of Umayo Lake.

Once in Cusco, you’ll go straight to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, the perfect place to enjoy your first days in Cusco, because of its lower elevation (2,870 m or 9,415 ft) and it’s peaceful atmosphere.

On your second day in the Sacred Valley, you’ll visit the Misminay community, Maras Salt Ponds, and Moray circular terraces. These two are some of the most exciting and still mysterious Inca sites. The next day, you’ll wake up early to have one the most exciting discoveries of your trip, Ollantaytambo Fortress and the lost city of Machu Picchu! First thing in the morning, you’ll explore Ollantaytambo, a fortress with impressive Inca stonework and a charming village. Then, you’ll board a comfortable train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town), from where your Machu Picchu adventure starts! Visiting Machu Picchu in the afternoon is a great advantage during high season (dry season) as most travelers are already leaving the citadel at that time!

After a long but fun day in Machu Picchu, it’s time to take your train back to Ollantaytambo, where a delicious Andean Pachamanca is waiting for you. Finally, touring the charming Cusco city is the best way to end your Peru trip. See the details of this itinerary.

This trekking route will lead you from the high Andean plains to the lush green cloud forest, finding enigmatic sites hidden under the vegetation along your way.
