Journey to Paracas and sandboarding at the California desert
We’ll start our trip this morning after breakfast, heading from Lima to the Bay of Paracas, located in the desert, 250km south of the capital. After checking into our seaside hotel and relaxing for a while, we’ll head to the starting point of today’s adventure. Once there, we’ll board our powerful sand buggies; pack our sand boards, and begin the adventure. We´ll enjoy the speed and adrenaline running through our veins while driving in this powerful sand buggies. During the ride we’ll be stopping at selected dunes where we can practice some sand boarding and test our skills in this fun sport. After our one hour adventure in the desert we´ll return to Paracas in time to observe the sunset from our hotel located at the shores of the Bay.
Ballestas Islands and the Paracas National Reserve
This morning we’ll board fully equipped speedboats to the Ballestas Islands from the hotel pier. Nicknamed the “Little Galapagos”, the islands are literally booming with marine wildlife, so be prepared to see Humboldt penguins, sea lions and other marine bird species along the way. On route, our boat will make a stop to observe the ”The Chandelier”, a huge, enigmatic figure against a sandy backdrop that can only be seen from the sea.
Upon returning, we’ll drive to the nearby Paracas National Reserve, one of Peru’s most important Natural Reserves where we can either explore the beaches and natural lookouts or visit the visitor´s centre and make a make a short walk to see the Parihuanas (Andean Flamingos). Depending on time, we may have lunch (not included) in the tiny fishing village of ”Lagunillas” and then we get ready for our return to Lima. We should be arriving back at our hotel around 8:00pm.
